Since 1987, ConnetWorks has witnessed meltdowns of Customer File Servers due to lack of attention because small details are overlooked or not monitored by businesses until it's too late. No one in the company is consistently viewing Event Logs.

To do this you simply select  START > PROGRAMS > ADMINISTRATOR TOOLS > EVENT VIEWER. You can't hurt a thing and you will see what we are talking about.  You may also see why it's a great device to listen to your Server's Heartbeat. The biggest downside to the NT Event Log is there is no built in way of letting anyone know a issue that needs attention has occurred. There are many potential disasters waiting to put a stick in the spokes.

CNW WatchDog is a method of watching over a File Server's Event Logs and triggering an action based on our assessment of potential harm to the system.

BUSINESS SURVEILLANCE 24 hours a day

  • WatchDog monitors and carefully watches your network hunting for problems and providing data before a shutdown or crash occurs.

CNW Watchdog will not prevent every disaster from harming your system but it will do what most IT personnel can't do, that is to make someone aware.

How does it work?

There are thousands of events generated by NT systems that may be simply information about an event or a bona fide alert requiring attention. ConnetWorks will install a low overhead program running on your server that will forward your Event Logs generated to our WatchDog Server which will in turn filter each event and trigger a appropriate action.

Example of notifications:

  • Norton Antivirus has successfully downloaded the latest Virus Definition list

  • Norton Antivirus failed to download the latest Virus Definition list.

One is tells us and you that life is good with your network and the other is a concern because it may open your computers up to virus access.

  • Another typical scenario would be if a mirrored hard drive failed, the system would continue operation but now without the redundant drive.  If the IT person were to view the event log and scroll down and see the error they could have the drive replaced before it was too late.  More often what happens is the Main Hard Drive now fails and now your systems are done.  If we could have replaced the Mirror Drive in time the downtime would barely be a hiccup in your business. DOWNTIME COSTS BUSINESS.

Watchdog filters the failed mirror drive and emails ConnetWorks and a designated person in your office to alert us. Together we can determine a proper and cost-effective course of action.

Not all negative events are reported to the NT Event Viewer and we will work with each client to establish a loophole list and attempt to offer a workaround to monitor these items.
